Derek Samaroo - Coach/Trainer

Derek is entering his 22nd year with the Jersey Knights Soccer Club. He has worked as coach of the U20 Men’s EDP Super Club team and Super 20's Y-League  team since 2007. His team qualified for the  USL Super 20’s 2015 championships at the IMG complex in Bradenton, Florida. He led the Jersey Knights U23 team in the 2016 EDP Championship Tournament.

Derek is a former Assistant Coach for the Union County College Men's team where he helped guide the college team to a 12-8-0 record and a Region XIX Championship in 2014 as well as qualification to the NJCAA National Tournament.  The team has a winning record and has been in post season competition over the last 7 years.

He holds both USSF license and  United Soccer Coaches diplomas.  Derek is a member of United Soccer Coaches and has several other professional development certificates with the organization.  He is a member of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA).  

Derek has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
