The 2009 High School  was an exciting time for many of our Jersey Knights players. the Knights, with players competeing all over the Central New Jersey Area had many players recognized for their stellar play during the season. Read below to see some of the honors Jersey Knights soccer Club players and coaches have earned.

Women’s Honor Roll - 2009  

Julie Rekant (U18 Gladiators)                                                          
Jersey Knights Women continue to enjoy success at the high school level in soccer. Congratulations to all Knights players who were recognized for their performances on the soccer field during the Fall 2009 season. Leading this years class  earning All State or All Area recognition are Katie Metrokatsas (U18 Gladiators), Danielle Klecha (U18 Gladiators) and Dana Hunt (U17 Rage).
 
Katie Metrokatsas, a central midfielder from Bishop Ahr HS was named to the Star Ledger Non-public School All State team, the Home News All Area  1st team and the GMC (Greater Middlesex Conference) 1st Team as well as the GMC Blue Division 1st team.
 
Danielle Klecha, a central midfielder from Monroe HS earned 1st team honors on the Home News All Area team and the GMC All County team.  In addition, Danielle earned 2nd team All Middlesex honors from the Star Ledger and White Division 1st Team honors from the GMC.
 
Dana Hunt a junior at Delaware Valley earned 1st team All State Group 2 honors as well as 1st team All West Jersey from the Star Ledger.

 

 

Danielle Hogan, Katie Metrokotsas, Danielle Klecha

Danielle Hogan (U18 Gladiators) and Kerriann Cahillane (U16 Mystic) earned All Area honors from the Home News. Danielle a central defender from Sayreville HS also was named to the GMC All County and White Division 1st team. She was also named to the Star Ledger All Middlesex County 3rd team. Kerriann a sophmore forward from Bishop Ahr HS, was named to the GMC All County 2nd team and Blue Division 1st team. This season she totaled 43 points on 14 goals and 15 assists.

Sarah Barnes (U18 Gladiators) a senior midfielder from Sayreville HS earned 2nd team All Middlesex County honors from the Star Ledger, All White Division honors from the GMC and Honorable Mention All Area from the Home News.

Lauren Zastrow (U18 Gladiators) a Sweeper from Bishop Ahr HS earned All Middlesex County 3rd team honors from the Star Ledger as well as Home News All Area Honorable Mention and GMC All Blue Division 1st team.
 
Other Knights earning recognition include Julie Connor (U18 Gladiators), Stephanie Nawracaj (U18 Gladiators), Moriah Springstead (U17 Rage), Catherine Andrus (U18 Gladiators), Bridget Natallichio (U18 Gladiators) Haley Drecksage (U18 Gladiators) and Alyssa Zurlo (U16 Mystic).
 
Julie Connor, a midfielder from Old Bridge HS earned Home News All Area Honorable Mention and GMC Red Division 1st team honors. Stephanie Nawracaj, a senior defender from Monroe HS earned Home News All Area Honorable Mention and GMC White Division 1st team honors. "Cat" Andrus and Bridget Natallichio, both defenders from Bishop Ahr HS earned All Area Honorable Mention from the Home News. Haley Drecksage, a junior from Middlesex HS also earned Home News Honorable Mention on the All Area team. Moriah Springstead, a junior defender from North Brunswick earned All Area Honorable Mention recognition from the Home News and GMC All White Division 1st team honors. Alyssa Zurlo, a sophomore at Warren Hills HS earned All West Jersey Honors by the Star Ledger.
 
Courtney McKiernan (U16 Mystic) and Kirstin Figel (U16 Mystic), both sophmores at Midldesex HS were recognized as All Area Honorable Mention recipients. In addition, Courtney and Kirstin were also recognized by the GMC on its Gold Division 1st team.

Men’s Honor Roll - 2009

Mike Whalen (U18 Fire) 
Jersey Knights Men also continue to enjoy much success at the high school level in soccer. Congratulations to all Knights players who were recognized for their performances on the soccer field during the Fall 2009 Season. Leading this year’s group of honorees are Josh Alvarez (U18 Fire), Mike Whalen (U18 Fire), Mike DelSordi (U18 Fire), Anthony Sena (U18 Fire), Owen Haney (U18 Fire) and Anthony Zukofsky (U18 Fire).
 
Josh Alvarez, a striker from East Brunswick HS, totaled 59 points on 28 goals and 3 assists this season. Josh earned all State Group 4 and All Middlesex County honors from the Star Ledger, All Area 1st team recognition from the Home News, All GMC and All Red Division 1st team from the Grater Middlesex Conference.
 
Michael Whalen, a midfielder/striker led  North Brunswick HS with 14 goals and 4 assists for 32 points. Mike who will be attending Millersville University next fall earned All State  Group 4  and All Middlesex County Recognition from the Star Ledger, All Area 2nd team from the Home News, and was recognized by the Grater Middlesex Conference as a 1st team selection and member of the All White Division team.
 
Michael DelSordi and Anthony Zukofsky, both seniors from Scotch Plains/Fanwood HS were recognized by the Star Ledger as an All State Group 3 players and as an All Union County players.
 
Anthony Sena, from Immaculata HS in Somerville, earned All State Non-Public School honors as well as 1st Team all Somerset County recognition. Owen Haney earned All State Prep 2nd Team honors at Princeton Day School.
 
  Also earning 1st Team All Area recognition this year from the Home News are Tim Gandy (U18 Fire), Steven Fawzy (U18 Fire), and Chris Ramirez (U18 Fire).  
 
Tim Gandy a Central Defender from Monroe HS scored 6 goals and had 5 assists while anchoring a strong Falcon defense. Tim was also recognized by the Star Ledger as All Middlesex County 1st Team. He  also earned 1st Team All GMC and 1st Team All White Division by the Greater Middlesex Conference.
 
Steven Fawzy anchored the East Brusnwick defense this season. He also scored 5 goals. Steven was recognized as a 1st Team All Area player by the Home News. He also earned 1st team All Middlesex County honors from the Star ledger. In addition, Steven was recognized by the Greater Middlesex Conference as 1st Team All GMC and 1st team All Red Division.
 
Chris Ramirez, a midfielder from East Brunswick HS, earned 1st Team All Area honors from the Home News. Chris was also recognized as a 1st team All Middlesex County player from the Star Ledger. He also earned 1st Team All GMC and All Red Division honors.
 
Adrian Mosquera (U18 Fire) a forward from Piscataway HS earned 2nd Team all Area honors from the Home News. Adrian scored 23 goals and had 10 assists this season. He also earned 2nd Team All Middlesex County honors from the Star Ledger. In addition, Adrian earned 1st Team All GMC and 1st Team all Red Division.
 
Eric Palisay (U18 Fire) earned 3rd Team All Area honors from the Home News. Eric, a midfielder from Monroe HS, also earned 2nd Team All Middlesex County recognition from the Star Ledger and All White Division honors from the GMC.
 
Mauricio Valdelomar (U18 Fire) a striker from Colonia HS, earned Home News All Area 3rd Team honors. Mauricio scored 15 goals this season for the Patriots. He also was honored by the Star Ledger as a 3rd Team all Middlesex County player and was 1st Team All GMC and 1st Team All White Division. Bishoy Garis (U18 Fire) was recognized by the Home News All Area Team as an Honorable Mention player. Bishoy also earned GMC All Red Division 1st Team honors. Bishoy competes for South Brunswick HS. 
 
Danny Iverson (U18 Fire) and Zach Jay (U18 Fire), both seniors at North Brunswick HS, were recognized by the GMC as 1st Team All White Division players. In addition, Danny a Goalkeeper, earned Honorable Mention on the Home News All Area Team. Ray Durski (U17 Black Knights) and Jason Chung (U18 Fire), both midfielders from Monroe HS earned Honorable Mention on the Home News All Area Team. In addition, both Ray and Jason earned GMC 1st Team All White Division honors.
 
Finally, congratulations to Knight’s Trainer/coaches Elvir Prasovic and Ken Graf. Elvir, who trains and coaches the U16B Falcons, was named Coach of  the Year by the Greater Middlesex Conference. Elvir guided the New Brunswick HS men to a 13-5-1 record. The Zebras, after clinching the GMC White Division Championship, advanced to the Group 3 North 2 semifinal. Ken, who trains and coaches the U15G Cavalry, led the Metuchen Bulldogs to the Group 1 Central Jersey Sectional Championship and an appearance in the New Jersey State Seminfinal.
